WYPR, Baltimore’s NPR news station, will welcome Marquis Lupton as new local host of “All Things Considered,” NPR’s afternoon drive-time news program. Lupton begins his new role on July 10 every weekday from 4 – 6 p.m.
Before joining WYPR, Lupton hosted at public radio station WITF in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He is a native of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, though he attended Morgan State University in Baltimore to earn a master’s degree in media management.
Throughout his distinguished career, he has worked with an array of prominent media outlets, including CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, NPR, and PBS. He has hosted, reported, produced, and edited. He is also an entrepreneur who has founded several media-related ventures. This includes The Cultured Professional, an alternative news platform dedicated to elevating voices and narratives within the Black community.
“We are excited to welcome Marquis to the WYPR team,” said Jonathan Blakley, WYPR Chief Content Officer, in a statement. “His experience and passion for storytelling will undoubtedly enrich our programming and provide our listeners with insightful and engaging content.”
Lupton is also invested in education and mentorship, having taught media and communications courses at various colleges and institutions.
“I look forward to the opportunity to continue my broadcasting career at Baltimore Public Media. As a Morgan State grad, it was always my goal to return to Baltimore and work in media, and I’m excited at the thought of returning to Charm City, building new connections, and giving Baltimore, Maryland and beyond, the news!” Lupton said in a statement.

WYPR is Baltimore’s flagship public radio station was founded in 2002 by local community members, located at 88.1 FM on the radio dial.
